Police are asking for help finding a person who allegedly crept up behind a 66-year-old man in Brownsville on Saturday afternoon and ripped a necklace from his neck before fleeing on foot. The NYPD classified the incident as grand larceny, and the suspect remains unidentified.
According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the theft happened around 2:40 p.m. near Sutter Avenue and Tapscott Street. The person allegedly snatched the necklace and ran westbound on Sutter Avenue.

Police Are Offering Up To $3,500 For Information
The Crime Stoppers alert offers a reward of up to $3,500 for information leading to an arrest and indictment. The NYPD program accepts anonymous tips, so witnesses do not have to identify themselves when contacting investigators.
The Theft Happened In Brownsville
The intersection of Sutter Avenue and Tapscott Street is in Brownsville, a Brooklyn neighborhood served by the NYPD's 73rd Precinct, according to the NYPD. The alert did not identify the suspect or say whether the necklace had been recovered.
The latest case follows another recent Crime Stoppers alert in the same general Brownsville corridor. Hoodline reported that police were seeking a suspect accused of punching a 45-year-old man near Junius Street and Sutter Avenue before taking his prescription medication.
