An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with heat-index values across the area potentially reaching 109 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible and check on older neighbors, children and anyone working outside.
Wednesday May Be The Week’s Hottest Day
Wednesday is forecast to be sunny and even hotter, with a high near 108 degrees and a heat index as high as 109. Southwest winds around 12 mph may add some movement to the air, but they will not provide meaningful relief from the afternoon heat.
Thursday brings a modest step down to around 100 degrees, with mostly sunny skies and only a 5% chance of rain. Overnight lows should remain in the upper 70s, limiting the amount of cooling available before the next day’s heat.
Triple-Digit Heat Returns Through Monday
Friday is expected to reach 102 degrees, followed by highs near 103 Saturday and 105 Sunday. Monday stays just as hot, with another sunny high near 105 and a southwest wind around 14 mph.
Outdoor work, sports and errands will be safest during the early morning or evening hours. Take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning, keep pets supplied with water, and never leave people or animals inside a parked vehicle.
