A West Palm Beach man will spend a decade in Florida prison after admitting he possessed child sexual abuse material on multiple electronic devices. The case began with a digital investigation and ended with a sentence that includes prison time, sex-offender supervision and a projected release date in 2036.
Johnny W. Aleman, 40, pleaded guilty on June 25 to 30 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to WPBF. He was sentenced to 10 years in state prison and received credit for 86 days already served in the Palm Beach County Jail.
Investigation Traced Digital Files To West Palm Beach Home
The investigation led Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies to search a home on Cashiers Drive on November 7, 2024, according to the sheriff’s office report cited in the case. Investigators said they found a laptop and an external hard drive containing the illegal material.
The earlier arrest was detailed by Hoodline, which reported that the case followed an online alert and a search of devices linked to Aleman. He was initially charged with 30 felony counts and held on bond while the investigation continued.
Child Rescue Coalition, whose technology was cited in the investigation, said its software helped connect the online activity to an internet address associated with Aleman’s home. The organization said investigators identified 210 unique files flagged as potentially containing child sexual abuse material before the search warrant was executed.
Prison Term Followed By Five Years Of Probation
A Florida Department of Corrections database listed Aleman at the South Florida Reception Center in Doral as of July 1. The database gives him a projected release date of March 28, 2036, though release calculations can change.
In addition to the prison term, Aleman was ordered to serve five years of sex-offender probation, pay court costs and comply with a court designation as a sexual offender, according to the sentencing report. The case underscores how online evidence, device searches and digital forensic tools can turn an internet tip into a state prison conviction.
