Phoenix is starting Friday mostly clear and around 82 degrees, but the Valley’s short-lived break from the furnace is already on a timer. The high should reach about 101, with light south winds and almost no rain expected.
The Heat Turns Up This Weekend
Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 104, followed by an overnight low around 85. Sunday climbs to about 107, while skies remain mostly sunny and rain chances stay close to zero in the Phoenix area.
That warming trend sets up the bigger concern for next week. Overnight temperatures will offer little relief, with lows around 88 Sunday night and 90 Monday and Tuesday nights.
Extreme Heat Watch Starts Monday
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for the Phoenix metro area from Monday morning through Wednesday evening. Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach roughly 109 to 112 degrees, with a major heat risk possible across the lower deserts.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are all forecast to reach about 110 degrees, with mostly sunny skies and light winds. A slight chance of showers or thunderstorms appears late Wednesday night, but the broader pattern will remain hot and dry.
Plan Around The Hottest Hours
The National Weather Service recommends moving strenuous outdoor activity to early morning or evening, drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning. Anyone showing confusion, fainting or other signs of heat stroke needs emergency help immediately.
