A Phoenix concert promoter who booked shows for more than 50 years is clearing out his personal archive — more than 2,100 pieces of concert memorabilia, from backstage passes to a signed guitar — and putting it all up for sale on eBay, with the proceeds going to a local nonprofit that delivers meals to cancer patients. Danny Zelisko, who has worked with acts including Alice Cooper and Prince over his career, launched the store under the name Danny Zelisko's Closet.
According to KTAR News 92.3 FM, the listings include ticket stubs spanning five decades of live music, vintage concert t-shirts, posters, backstage passes and signed photographs. Among the pricier items are a James Dean collection listed for $3,750 that includes stamps, an album, a guitar and an autographed photo, along with a Jonas Brothers package priced at $2,275 featuring a signed guitar and poster from the band's 2008 tour. A signed poster from The Who is listed for $700, and a Sade concert t-shirt from 1993 is priced at $2,000. Zelisko told the station, “This isn't just memorabilia — it's a lifetime of memories.”
The Jonas Brothers item traces back to a sold-out Tucson concert Zelisko booked in 2008, when the group was still emerging nationally — he has said he didn't even know who the band was at the time he booked the show, according to Phoenix New Times. Every item in the archive comes from more than 10,000 concerts Zelisko produced and is accompanied by an official letter of authenticity that he personally signs, per eBay listings for the store.
Five Decades Booking Arizona's Biggest Stages
Zelisko founded Evening Star Productions and got his start booking acts in Phoenix, eventually expanding the company into New Mexico and Las Vegas. He began booking Tempe's 750-capacity Dooley's Nightclub in 1976, bringing early performances by The Police, KISS, Talking Heads and Nirvana to the Phoenix area before the venue closed in the mid-1990s, according to Pollstar.
Evening Star Productions later helped open Phoenix's Desert Sky Amphitheatre in 1990 with a Billy Joel concert and promoted stadium-scale shows at ASU's Sun Devil Stadium for Pink Floyd and Paul McCartney, according to Zelisko's own company site, Danny Zelisko Presents. Zelisko sold Evening Star Productions to SFX Entertainment in 2001 and went on to serve as president and chairman of Live Nation Southwest until 2011, when he left to launch his independent firm, Danny Zelisko Presents, Pollstar reports. In 2020, he released a 343-page memoir, ALL EXCE$$ — Occupation: Concert Promoter, tracing how a childhood collecting habit in Illinois turned into a decades-long career in live music, per CelebrityAccess.
Where the Money Is Going
Proceeds from the eBay sales will benefit The Joy Bus, a Phoenix nonprofit that delivers chef-prepared meals to homebound cancer patients. Chopped champion chef Jennifer Caraway founded the organization in 2011 in honor of her friend Joy Seitz-Butz, who died of ovarian cancer in 2012, according to PHOENIX Magazine.
The Joy Bus operates out of a 6,700-square-foot North Phoenix facility that houses a commercial kitchen, an organic food pantry, a teaching kitchen and a public, nonprofit restaurant called The Joy Bus Diner, whose profits go directly toward funding free patient meal deliveries, Phoenix New Times reports. In February, the organization received a $149,780 grant from Mercy C.A.R.E.S. to fund its More Than a Meal Delivery Project, as it works toward a goal of conducting 2,500 home visits weekly, according to AZ Big Media. Federal tax filings show the nonprofit generated $1.78 million in total revenues and employed 21 people during the 2024 tax year, per Cause IQ.
Hoodline previously ranked the Joy Bus Diner among Phoenix's top affordable diners, and Zelisko himself has been quoted in past Hoodline coverage discussing concert touring dynamics in the Valley. The eBay archive gives Arizona music fans a chance to own a piece of that history while supporting a cause tied directly to the local community Zelisko has spent his career entertaining.
