Saturday Turns Hot Before Storms Arrive
Morning clouds will give way to brighter skies, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s by early afternoon. Winds will stay light from the south at 5 mph or less, while the chance of storms rises to about 50% during the afternoon.
The National Weather Service says additional rounds of thunderstorms are expected across the region through the weekend, with locally heavy rainfall, flooding concerns and the possibility of severe storms. The most troublesome storms could bring damaging winds or intense downpours, especially if storms repeatedly pass over the same areas.
Overnight Storms Could Keep The Weekend Messy
Saturday night will remain warm and mostly cloudy, with a low near 75 degrees and a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Storm chances increase late Saturday evening and overnight, when rainfall totals could reach between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.
Sunday will bring another warm day, with mostly sunny conditions early and a high near 91 degrees before storms become possible after 2 p.m. A cold front is expected to move through Sunday night, when showers and thunderstorms become likely and another quarter- to half-inch of rain could fall.
Cooler, Less Humid Weather Arrives Next Week
Monday will be cooler, with a high near 86 and only a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms. The bigger change arrives Monday night into Tuesday, when temperatures dip into the mid-60s overnight and Tuesday turns sunny with a high near 85.
Wednesday could bring another round of afternoon and evening storms with a high near 88, followed by a noticeably cooler Thursday near 82. By Friday, the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high around 81, giving outdoor plans a much better chance of staying dry.
What Cincinnati Residents Should Know
Anyone heading outdoors Saturday or Sunday should plan around the afternoon and evening storm windows, keep an eye on changing conditions and take thunder seriously. If heavy rain develops, avoid driving through flooded roadways, since even a short burst of intense rain can quickly overwhelm low-lying streets and underpasses.
