Chicago’s Three Dots and a Dash is leaving its subterranean River North hideaway for a one-night run on Lake Michigan. The tiki bar will bring tropical cocktails, music, light bites and skyline views aboard a 90-minute cruise departing from Navy Pier later this month.
According to Time Out Chicago, the floating happy hour is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, with boarding at 7:30 p.m. The cruise is designed to deliver the bar’s signature drinks in a setting with considerably more breeze than its usual basement surroundings.
What The $62 Navy Pier Cruise Includes
Shoreline Sightseeing lists the event as a Tiki Luau with Three Dots and a Dash, with boarding from 7 to 7:30 p.m. and the cruise running from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets start at $62, include curated cocktail tastings and light bites, and are limited to guests ages 21 and older.
Three Dots Is Bringing Its Rum Program Outside
The bar’s official menu shows why the partnership is more than a standard booze cruise: its namesake cocktail combines aged Martinique rhum agricole and Guyana rum with lime, orange, falernum and allspice. The menu also features tropical classics such as the Painkiller, 1944 Mai Tai and Rum Barrel, along with elaborate group drinks meant for sharing.
Three Dots and a Dash opened in River North in 2013 and has since built a national reputation, according to Lettuce Entertain You. The World’s 50 Best describes the bar as a tropical basement destination known for exotic fruit, cold-pressed juices, rum and oversized custom vessels.
