Sunshine Peaks Monday Afternoon
Temperatures will climb quickly, reaching the low 80s during the morning, 90 by late morning and around 100 during the late afternoon. South winds will stay light at 0 to 5 mph, while the chance of rain remains near zero, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday May Feel Even More Oppressive
Monday night will be mostly clear with a low near 77, but lingering humidity could keep conditions feeling warmer than the thermometer suggests. Tuesday will bring another sunny day with a high near 99 and heat index values up to 104, along with south-southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph.
Mostly Dry Through The Weekend
The rest of the week looks like a familiar early-August pattern, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 98 on Wednesday and Thursday, 97 on Friday, and 96 Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows should remain in the mid to upper 70s, while daily rain chances stay between 1% and 5% around San Antonio.
A stray shower or thunderstorm could develop farther southeast along the coastal plain from Friday into the weekend, but most San Antonio neighborhoods are expected to remain dry. In other words, umbrellas can stay home, but water bottles should not.
Heat Safety Takes Priority
Outdoor plans are safest during the morning or evening, when temperatures are lower. Residents should drink water regularly, seek shade or air conditioning, check on older neighbors and others vulnerable to heat, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.
The City of San Antonio recommends staying cool and hydrated during hot weather and monitoring official alerts. No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the area in the current forecast.
