San Diego’s coast is heading into a mostly sunny Saturday with temperatures topping out near 82 degrees, while inland communities remain under heat alerts. The city should get a classic summer mix of bright skies, light afternoon winds and a few stubborn morning clouds near the water.
Early Saturday conditions at San Diego International Airport were mostly clear and around 70 degrees. Patchy low clouds may develop along the coast before pulling back toward the shoreline by midmorning, with northwest winds increasing to around 10 mph during the afternoon.
Inland Heat Alerts Remain In Place
According to the National Weather Service San Diego, heat advisories remain in effect through 8 p.m. Sunday for inland valleys and mountain areas. The deserts face an Extreme Heat Warning through Sunday evening, and inland temperatures are expected to run roughly 5 to 10 degrees above normal through Monday.
Anyone heading inland should bring plenty of water, limit strenuous activity during the hottest part of the afternoon and check on older adults, children and pets. San Diego proper will be noticeably more manageable, but warm overnight temperatures around 69 to 70 degrees could still make sleeping uncomfortable without good ventilation or air conditioning.
Cooler, Cloudier Weather Arrives Midweek
Sunday will look much like Saturday, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 82 degrees. Highs ease to around 80 on Monday and Tuesday, then fall to the upper 70s from Wednesday through Friday as coastal cloud cover becomes more noticeable.
Rain is not expected in the city, but the broader region could see isolated afternoon showers or thunderstorms in the mountains and deserts through Tuesday. For San Diego’s coastal neighborhoods, precipitation chances remain close to zero through the week.
Marine conditions should stay relatively quiet as well, with the National Weather Service reporting no hazardous conditions expected through Wednesday.
