San Francisco starts today under a cool blanket of low clouds, with temperatures around 56 degrees before afternoon sunshine pushes the city near 71. No rain is expected, but the familiar marine layer will make the morning feel more gray than summer-bright.
Clouds Clear As Afternoon Winds Pick Up
According to the National Weather Service, skies should turn partly sunny by late morning, with west-southwest winds of 5 to 13 mph. Gusts could reach 18 mph later today, so waterfront plans may still call for a light jacket even as temperatures climb.
Cooler Days Settle In Later This Week
Mostly cloudy skies return tonight, with a low near 58 and occasional gusts up to 18 mph. Wednesday will be a touch cooler, with a high near 69, while Thursday remains around 69 under partly sunny skies.
The cooldown becomes more noticeable on Friday, when the high is expected to reach 68 before temperatures settle near 66 Saturday and next Sunday. Next Monday looks cooler still, with a high around 65, and no precipitation is forecast through the start of next week.
