San Jose woke up today under cloudy skies and temperatures around 63 degrees, but the gray start should give way to a brighter afternoon. The city is headed for a high near 82 degrees before a gradual cooldown settles in for the weekend.
Clouds Clear, Then Winds Pick Up
Clouds should thin through late morning, with mostly sunny conditions taking over during the afternoon. Northwest winds will increase from a few miles per hour in the morning to around 9 mph later in the day, while the chance of rain remains essentially zero.
Tonight will turn mostly cloudy again, with a low near 59 degrees and northwest winds between 2 and 9 mph. The National Weather Service expects the marine layer to deepen, which could push low clouds farther inland after sunset and into early tomorrow.
Cooler Weekend, Steady Next Week
Tomorrow should be mostly sunny with a high near 80 degrees, though northwest winds could gust to 18 mph. Saturday will be sunny and near 80, followed by a mostly sunny next Sunday with a high around 82.
The cooler pattern follows the hotter stretch covered in an earlier Hoodline forecast, with temperatures now leveling off rather than climbing. Next Monday through Wednesday should remain mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 80s and overnight lows in the upper 50s.
For outdoor plans, late morning through the afternoon looks like the most reliable window for sunshine. A light layer may still come in handy after sunset, when clouds return and temperatures slide back toward the upper 50s.
