San Jose is heading into a hot, dry stretch, with clear skies and temperatures near 60 degrees early today before the mercury climbs into the low 90s. The forecast calls for sunshine, light winds and no rain through the weekend, with the warmest days still ahead.
Sunny Tuesday Brings Low-90s Heat
Today will be sunny, with temperatures reaching about 92 degrees before easing into the upper 80s during the afternoon. West-southwest winds should stay light at 2 to 8 mph, while the overnight low settles near 60. The National Weather Service lists Moderate HeatRisk across much of the interior South Bay.
Temperatures Stay Elevated Through Sunday
Tomorrow should reach 91 degrees, followed by a high near 90 on Thursday. Friday and Saturday are expected to be the hottest days of the stretch, each topping out at around 94 degrees, before next Sunday cools slightly to about 90 degrees. Next Monday brings a more noticeable break, with a high near 84.
Cool Nights Offer Some Relief
Overnight lows will remain comparatively comfortable, mostly ranging from 60 to 65 degrees through the weekend. Skies should stay mostly clear overnight, making early mornings the easiest time for outdoor plans and exercise.
Dry Conditions Raise Fire Weather Concerns
The weather service is also warning of elevated fire weather conditions across interior areas because of dry daytime weather, low humidity and afternoon breezes. Residents heading into the foothills or open spaces should avoid activities that could spark a fire, including unattended campfires and poorly secured trailer chains.
Marine Layer Stays Mostly Near The Coast
Low clouds may spread inland around the Bay Area early today, but they are expected to retreat toward the coast by late morning. San Jose should turn mainly sunny, although brief overcast conditions near the airport cannot be completely ruled out.
