East-northeast winds will run 15 to 25 mph Saturday, with gusts reaching 35 mph. Saturday night stays unsettled, with showers and thunderstorms likely, a low near 65 degrees and another quarter- to half-inch of rain possible.
Lake Michigan Beaches Are Not A Saturday Plan
A Beach Hazards Statement remains in effect through Monday morning for Chicago-area Lake Michigan beaches. Waves of 6 to 9 feet and dangerous currents are expected, making swimming potentially life-threatening; beachgoers should also stay off piers, jetties, breakwalls and other shoreline structures.
Sunday Calms Down Before Sunshine Returns
Sunday brings only a slight chance of showers before 8 a.m., followed by mostly cloudy skies and a high near 72 degrees. Conditions turn noticeably quieter Monday, when sunny skies and a high near 75 are expected, followed by another sunny day near 80 on Tuesday.
A warmer stretch arrives Wednesday with a high near 81, although a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms returns after 1 p.m. Rain chances remain in the forecast Thursday and Friday, but neither day currently looks as soggy as Saturday.
