Cincinnati is waking up to mostly clear skies and temperatures around 73 degrees Monday, but the calm will not last. Showers and thunderstorms are expected at several points during the day, with a high near 83 and a cold front moving through by afternoon.
The National Weather Service says the region could see locally heavy rain as storms develop along and ahead of the front. Rain chances are around 50%, with expected rainfall of roughly one-half to three-quarters of an inch in some spots, though no weather advisories are currently listed.
Monday’s Storms Could Bring Heavy Downpours
Scattered storms may affect the morning, then return or redevelop through the afternoon as temperatures climb into the low 80s. Winds will stay light at first, generally from the west at 1 to 7 mph, before shifting toward the northwest as the front passes.
Most storms are not expected to become severe, but forecasters say a few stronger storms cannot be ruled out. The combination of repeated showers and brief heavy downpours could make outdoor plans and the afternoon commute messy in spots.
Foggy Tuesday Morning Gives Way To Sunshine
Monday night brings a chance of another shower or storm before areas of fog develop, with temperatures falling to about 66 degrees. Tuesday morning may begin murky, but the fog should lift by 10 a.m., leaving mostly sunny skies and a high near 82.
Another Storm Chance Arrives Wednesday Night
Wednesday will be partly sunny and warm, with a high near 84 and only a slight chance of storms after 2 p.m. The better storm chance arrives Wednesday night, when showers and thunderstorms are likely and temperatures settle near 67.
Thursday stays unsettled with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high around 80. After that front moves through, Friday through Sunday look cooler and generally brighter, with highs near 80 to 82 and overnight lows in the low 60s.
