A third suspect is now behind bars in the killing of Rashidi Grant, the 35-year-old man found shot to death inside a Houston Street home in LaGrange last November. LaQuincy Wilson Jr. was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Troup County Jail on Sunday, closing out a nine-month investigation that has now produced three separate arrests.
Officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 1000 block of Houston Street on November 9, 2025, and found Grant unresponsive inside the home, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Emergency medical workers determined that Grant died at the scene from a gunshot wound. The outlet reports the specific address as 1006 Houston Street, and that police responded around 8:35 p.m. that night, according to CNAW2News.
A Warrant Signed Friday, an Arrest Sunday
Arrest warrants charging Wilson and co-defendant Quamarion Johnson with malice murder were formally issued Friday, leading to Wilson's arrest and jail booking three days later, per the same FOX 5 Atlanta report. Johnson was served his warrant at the Troup County Jail without incident, since he was already being held there. The station's report notes he had been arrested on June 15 and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and unlawful possession of a machine gun in a separate fatal shooting of Corey Earl on South Page Street — a case Hoodline previously covered when Johnson was arrested hours after that shooting.
Wilson is now the third person arrested in the case, though authorities have not publicly identified who was arrested before Johnson. That gap fills in with a June 2 report from CNAW2News, which identified the first arrest as Xavian Woodyard, charged with malice murder and taken into custody without incident on that date — a detail not disclosed in the FOX 5 Atlanta account of Wilson's arrest.
Motive and Connection to Victim Still Unclear
Police have not released a motive for the shooting, nor have they explained how the three charged suspects were connected to Grant. Those questions remain open even as the case moves toward prosecution, and it's unknown whether the men are accused of acting together at the scene.
The location itself carries a grim history. The same address at 1006 Houston Street was the scene of a July 2018 drive-by shooting that wounded three men inside a parked vehicle and killed John Westley Davis, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.
What the Suspects Face Under Georgia Law
All three men are charged with malice murder, which under Georgia Code § 16-5-1 carries a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment with the possibility of parole, life imprisonment without parole, or the death penalty, according to the Epps Law Group. Wilson, Johnson and Woodyard are all presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Part of a Broader Push on Violent Crime
The arrest fits a pattern LaGrange police have shown this year in clearing long-running homicide cases.
