Tiffany “New York” Pollard is heading to Orlando to host a reality television-themed drag showcase, taking over the Renaissance Theatre Co.'s weekly Off the Record series for one night on September 2. The evening, branded OTR-TV, will feature Pollard reacting live to each performance and holding a meet-and-greet with fans, with two shows scheduled at 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The event is expected to sell tickets quickly, according to Orlando Weekly, with prices ranging from $50 to $100 through the Ren's website. Off the Record is a weekly Wednesday drag showcase created and hosted by Galvin Baez, who serves as the Renaissance Theatre Co.'s resident content creator, graphic designer and drag coordinator, according to the theater's own performance programs. Baez, described as an OTR mover and co-founder, called Pollard's visit a chance to bring outsized star power to Central Florida. “Having a legend like Tiffany Pollard join us, bringing one of the internet's most iconic personalities right into our community for a truly legendary night, is a perfect example of how we make that happen,” Baez said.
Baez added a bit of local pride to the announcement, noting the scene doesn't need the coasts to shine. “We can't all be in LA or NYC, some of us have to hold it down in Orlando, Florida,” Baez said. The September 2 lineup for OTR-TV includes Myki Meeks, Coco the Siren, Allegra D, Cara Cavalli, V Cavalli and Pherocia.
A Drag Race Winner In the Mix
Meeks brings more than local buzz to the bill. The Orlando-based performer is a recent winner of Season 18 of “RuPaul's Drag Race,” as reported by ABC News in April, a national title that adds extra weight to the Ren's weekly programming. Meeks was already a resident performer at the Renaissance Theatre Co. before that television victory, giving the September showcase a homegrown headliner alongside its celebrity host.
Pollard herself has deepened her ties to LGBTQ+ audiences in recent years. She publicly identified as queer in 2023 and has kept a steady presence on reality television since, appearing on “House of Villains” between 2023 and 2025 and on “Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition” in January 2025, according to an All American Speakers profile. Pollard first became a household name on VH1's “Flavor of Love” in 2006 before hosting two seasons of “I Love New York.”
The Ren's Rocky Road Back
The Renaissance Theatre Co. was co-founded in 2021 by artistic director Donald Rupe and producer Chris Kampmeier in Orlando's Ivanhoe Village neighborhood as a home for immersive and LGBTQ+-focused live performance, per Orlando Weekly's reporting on the theater's founding. The company built its reputation producing original musicals and nightlife events outside conventional theatrical structures, including “From Here,” a musical Rupe wrote and directed that premiered off-Broadway at Manhattan's Signature Theatre in July 2024 to honor the resilience of Orlando's LGBTQ+ community following the 2016 Pulse Nightclub tragedy, as noted by New York Stage Review.
That reputation survived a serious operational scare. The theater was forced to temporarily vacate its primary McRae Avenue venue in September 2025 due to city fire-safety code and permitting compliance issues, a disruption that cost the company nearly $488,000 in lost revenue before it secured temporary municipal facility leases downtown, according to Orlando Weekly's coverage of the closure. The Ren operated out of 54 W. Church St. while resolving building occupant-load approvals with Orlando officials before regaining full operations.
Drag Shows Still Navigating State Law
Pollard's Orlando booking arrives while Florida's live drag scene remains tangled in ongoing legal fights. Senate Bill 1438, the so-called Protection of Children Act signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in May 2023, imposes fines of up to $10,000 and threatens liquor license revocations for venues that admit minors to adult live performances involving nudity or lewd conduct, according to FlaglerLive. Orlando's Hamburger Mary's, the drag institution that served as the primary plaintiff in the federal lawsuit that halted the state law, closed its downtown location in 2024 before announcing plans to reopen in Kissimmee, according to Newsweek, even as it continued pressing its constitutional appeal against state officials. It remains an open question how fully municipal safety approvals for large crowd capacities at the Ren's venue are settled, and how local operators will navigate state licensing scrutiny with a high-profile celebrity guest drawing crowds through the door.
