Woman Stabbed, Robbed of Phone in Gladeview Attack, Suspect Still on the Run

A woman was punched, stabbed and robbed of her cell phone in an early morning attack near Northwest 70th Street and 27th Avenue on Monday, according to Miami-Dade deputies. The unknown male suspect brandished a knife during the assault, which was reported around 5:53 a.m., before fleeing the area on foot.

According to NBC 6 South Florida, deputies say the man approached the woman, punched her, then stabbed her before taking her phone and running off. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and transported the woman to a hospital. Her current medical condition has not been released, and investigators have not made the victim's identity public.

No Arrests Yet in Gladeview Case

No arrests have been made in the case as of Monday's report, and no physical description of the suspect has been released publicly by investigators. The attack unfolded in unincorporated Northwest Miami-Dade County, in the Gladeview neighborhood, an area that falls under the jurisdiction of the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Northside District.

Responding personnel are referred to as deputies rather than officers because the county's police force has undergone a structural change. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office officially replaced the Miami-Dade Police Department in January 2025, when Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz was sworn in as the county's first elected sheriff in nearly 60 years, per Miami-Dade County records.

Crime Stoppers of Miami-Dade County is offering anonymous cash rewards of up to $5,000 for tips that lead to an arrest in violent crime cases, with information accepted through 305-471-TIPS (8477) or online. Whether investigators have gathered surveillance footage or suspect descriptions from businesses along the 27th Avenue commercial corridor remains an open question.

The Gladeview area has seen other violent knife attacks in recent months. In May 2026, Miami-Dade deputies arrested a convicted felon in Gladeview who was accused of using broken glass to stab a woman in the neck and face, according to Local 10 News. That same month, the outlet also reported that a separate woman was hospitalized after being randomly attacked and stabbed in the face while walking her dog along Biscayne Boulevard in Miami.

Potential Charges Carry Steep Penalties

If identified and apprehended, the suspect could face serious statutory penalties under Florida law. Robbery committed while carrying a deadly weapon such as a knife is classified as a first-degree felony under Florida Statute § 812.13(2)(a), punishable by up to 30 years or life in prison, according to the Florida Senate. Prosecutors could also pursue an aggravated battery charge, a second-degree felony under Florida Statute § 784.045 that carries up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine when a deadly weapon is used or great bodily harm is intentionally caused.

Violent incidents have cropped up elsewhere in the surrounding blocks in recent months.
