A 29-year-old man is dead after his car crashed into a wall in a Canoga Park residential neighborhood late Tuesday night, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene near 22128 Saticoy Street, where he had been traveling east past Farralone Avenue before striking a wall.
The collision happened around 11:36 p.m. Tuesday, as first reported by MyNewsLA.com. LAPD says the man was driving east on Saticoy Street when he struck a wall in the residential neighborhood, and he did not survive.
The stretch of roadway where the crash occurred is no ordinary side street. Saticoy Street is classified by the city as an “Avenue II” secondary arterial, according to City of Los Angeles planning documents. The city also uses a High Injury Network designation to guide safety funding and engineering fixes.

The city is also preparing a bigger structural response. Under California's AB 645, LADOT is launching an automated Speed Safety Systems pilot later this year, placing speed cameras on dangerous roads. The program will include a mandatory 60-day warning period before any citations are issued, with fines starting at $50 for drivers caught going 11 mph or more over the posted limit.
Speed's Role in Fatal Crashes Regionally
Whether speed played a role in Tuesday night's crash remains part of LAPD's ongoing investigation, and the department has not released a cause.
Citywide, traffic deaths remain a persistent problem. LAPD statistics reported by LAist show that traffic collisions killed 290 people across Los Angeles in 2025, continuing to outpace the city's homicide total even as the overall number ticked down slightly for a second straight year.
Saticoy Street's Recent Crash History
This is not the first time a vehicle has left the roadway along Saticoy Street in Canoga Park. In January, a mini-SUV crashed into the Hair Etc. barbershop on North Shoup Avenue, injuring three people. And in January 2024, a multi-vehicle crash near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Saticoy Street killed two people and injured four others, shutting down lanes during the investigation, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
Hoodline has also reported a barbershop crash in Canoga Park earlier this year, and covered a fatal crash at Saticoy and Balboa Boulevard in Lake Balboa in February that killed a 29-year-old woman.
The investigation into Tuesday night's fatal crash is ongoing. The department has not said what caused the driver to lose control, and no additional details about the man's identity have been released.
