A 95-year-old man last seen wearing a white fedora, a white long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans has vanished from Miami's Flagami neighborhood, and police are asking the public for help finding him. Rolando Ferrer disappeared from the area of 5249 NW 7th Street at approximately 6 a.m. Saturday, according to a City of Miami Police Department flyer. He is described as 5-foot-5, roughly 150 pounds, with white and black hair and brown eyes.

A Dense Neighborhood Complicates the Search
Flagami's mix of apartment buildings, single-family homes and busy commercial corridors along West Flagler Street creates a sprawling search area for investigators trying to trace Ferrer's steps from the condo complex where he was last seen.
It is not yet known whether Ferrer has a cognitive condition or requires ongoing medical care, and whether nearby surveillance footage from properties along NW 7th Street has generated any leads remains an open question. Miami police are conducting the search.
Strict Timelines Govern the Response
Florida law requires police agencies to enter missing person details into state and national crime databases within two hours of a report, with no mandatory waiting period allowed before search efforts begin, under Florida Statute § 937.021. If a case remains open after 90 days, investigators are also required under Chapter 937 to attempt to collect a biological sample for a national missing persons DNA database, a step reserved for prolonged cases that don't resolve quickly.
Florida also maintains a Silver Alert system for missing seniors. Whether a statewide Silver Alert was formally requested through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in Ferrer's case has not been disclosed.
Part of a Broader Pattern Among Florida Seniors
Florida's older population includes people living with Alzheimer's disease. People with dementia or related cognitive impairments may wander from home or a care setting, putting them at heightened risk of disorientation, injury or heat exposure if not found quickly.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is mentioned in connection with missing-person efforts. Ferrer's disappearance is at least the fourth missing senior case Miami Police have publicized in the area within weeks. Miami Police issued a search for 78-year-old Carlos Kervi Betancourt in the neighboring Coral Way area in late August, and had appealed for help locating a missing 61-year-old woman from Flagami earlier that same month. In July 2025, the department sought the public's help finding 87-year-old Jose Mejia Berroa, who went missing from the same Flagami neighborhood.
