A 14-year-old Cary boy has been identified as the victim in a weekend shooting death that authorities are still working to explain. Ryan Marin was found suffering a traumatic injury at a home on the 300 block of Carl Sands Drive on Saturday, and he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at the hospital.
Cary police and the Cary Fire Protection District responded around 1:29 p.m. Saturday to the address for what was initially reported as an unknown medical emergency, according to Lake and McHenry County Scanner. Officers were met by occupants of the home, who directed them to the injured teen, as reported by Patch. Marin was transported by ambulance to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The Lake County Coroner's Office identified the boy on Monday as Ryan Marin, 14, of Cary, according to the same account from Lake and McHenry County Scanner. His death drew coverage from CBS Chicago as well, which noted that the case remains under active investigation.
