Clay Travis, the blogger and radio host who built an empire of podcasts, sports sites, books and radio shows, has struck a syndication deal that will send his month-old media venture Sport & State onto The Daily Wire's platform. The Daily Wire will also stream The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show as part of the arrangement, giving Travis's new outlet a far wider distribution arm than it had at launch.
The deal, first reported by Axios reporter Sara Fischer, comes just weeks after Travis launched Sport & State in August 2026. According to Front Office Sports, the site runs on an editorial mix of 70% sports coverage, 15% pop culture, and 15% content exploring where sports and politics collide — with Travis describing the platform's goal as offering commentary when the two worlds intersect. Online sportsbook operator Hard Rock Bet came in as a launch investor, taking a 10% equity stake that helped support an initial $100 million valuation for the startup, the outlet reported.
A Fast Launch Fueled by Betting Money
Hard Rock Bet invested in Sport & State. Late in August the platform expanded its betting lineup further by signing the Bet the Board podcast. That podcast returned from a one-year hiatus to join the roster, the outlet noted.
Travis developed his early following of sports fans through OutKick, the sports blog he founded in 2011 and later sold to Fox Corp. in 2021. Fox Corporation's acquisition eventually folded OutKick fully into Fox News Digital, a transition that became official in June 2026 when Travis departed the company. Before that shift, OutKick had reached a record peak of 21 million unique devices and more than 164 million page views in May 2026, its final full month as a standalone site, according to Fox News Media.
The Daily Wire's Sports Play
For The Daily Wire, the syndication deal is part of a broader push into sports entertainment and news programming as the conservative news and entertainment company works to expand its business. The company is also seeking investors for a possible IPO, and reports from Puck News detailed a fundraising effort seeking more than $100 million at a $750 million valuation, alongside plans for a potential public offering. Internal pitch documents reviewed by that outlet showed paid subscriptions at around 850,000 in 2025, while the $200 million revenue figure was associated with a late-2023 peak.
The Daily Wire was co-founded in 2015 by Ben Shapiro and Jeremy Boreing, and it operates under parent company Bentkey Ventures, LLC, according to Sportskeeda. Beyond news, the company has expanded into entertainment. Candace, once a Daily Wire show, is among the network's past programming efforts; Travis himself appeared on the set of Candace in Nashville back in October 2021.
Filling a Sports Programming Gap
The Sport & State deal adds sports programming to The Daily Wire's lineup. The arrangement gives the company a way to offer sports media without building a new vertical from the ground up.
Travis's radio presence adds significant reach to the arrangement. The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show broadcasts on more than 500 radio stations nationwide and reaches millions of listeners. Travis and Sexton also run digital podcasts.
The Daily Wire has laid out plans for future collaborations and show appearances between the two conservative networks. Front Office Sports discusses iHeartRadio's advertising role in the arrangement. How Sport & State's sports-gambling partnerships will integrate with The Daily Wire's broader subscriber platform is also unresolved. Hoodline previously covered Travis's $10M Aces challenge, part of the culture-war commentary style that has defined his approach since Sport & State's debut.
