A shooting at a home on the 2800 block of Spruceway Drive in Colerain Township sent one person to the hospital Friday night, according to township officials. Police say the gunfire came just after 11 p.m., following what officials describe as a dispute between the suspect and the victim immediately before the shooting.
Victim Rushed to UC Medical Center
First responders located a gunshot wound victim at the scene and transported that person to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to WLWT. Authorities have not disclosed the victim's condition. Colerain Township police say they have identified a suspect in the case, but as of the station's report, no arrest had been made.
A separate account from Local 12 pins the shooting to around 11:05 p.m. near 2875 Spruceway Drive, reporting that the gunfire followed a domestic dispute. That outlet quoted police saying, “Police know who the suspect is, but that person has not been caught.” The station also reported that the person who was shot was taken to UC Medical Center.
Conflicting Reports Complicate the Picture
Not all recent Colerain Township shooting coverage lines up cleanly. A June report from FOX19 described a shooting on the 2800 block of Butterwick Drive on a Sunday afternoon, saying a male in his mid-40s was shot following a domestic dispute and taken to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. It is not established whether that incident is connected to the Spruceway Drive shooting described by WLWT and Local 12.
A follow-up FOX19 report identified the Butterwick Drive victim as 41-year-old Jonathan Bunting, who died at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. That report said officers found Bunting around 4:45 p.m. Sunday after responding to a reported shooting, and that investigators told the station Bunting and a person he knew had a “brief physical altercation” before a gunshot was fired. The same FOX19 account noted that police were still investigating and that a department spokesperson did not say whether the person who fired the gun had ever been detained.
Investigation Continues
It remains unclear whether the details from the Butterwick Drive case relate in any way to the Spruceway Drive shooting reported by WLWT and Local 12, and the available reporting does not resolve the discrepancies in location, timing, or outcome between the accounts. Colerain Township police are asking anyone with information about the Spruceway Drive shooting to call 513-321-2677.
