Charleston White, the 49-year-old comedian and YouTube personality with more than 250,000 subscribers, was arrested in Hollywood, Florida on Saturday and booked into the Broward County Jail on a charge of touch or strike battery. The arrest comes just days before he is scheduled to take the stage at a comedy club in Naples.
White was arrested by the Hollywood Police Department, according to jail records cited by TMZ. Touch or strike battery is a misdemeanor, and a judge will decide whether to set a bond as White's case moves forward; he remains in custody in the meantime, per the outlet. White had not immediately responded to TMZ's request for comment as of Saturday.
The circumstances behind the arrest remain murky. A Miami woman posted photos on social media alleging that White physically assaulted her the night before September 12, 2026, claiming he bruised her eye, stole her belongings, and punched her in the face, according to Hollywood Unlocked. Authorities have not publicly confirmed whether the battery charge is connected to her claims.
A Volatile Night Before the Arrest
Hours before he was booked, White had posted a viral video expressing outrage over the September 11 jury acquittal of rapper Lil Durk in his federal murder-for-hire trial, the outlet reports. The timing placed his online tirade and his arrest within the same 24-hour window, adding to the chaotic backdrop of the weekend.
Under Florida Statute § 784.03, simple touch or strike battery is a first-degree misdemeanor, carrying potential penalties of up to 364 days in county jail, one year of probation, and a fine of as much as $1,000, according to the state's own statutory language published by The Florida Legislature.
Part of a Broader Pattern of Arrests
This is not White's first brush with law enforcement, and it is far from an isolated incident. Just a month earlier, on August 10, he was booked into the Collin County Jail by the Allen Police Department in Texas on misdemeanor charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon, possessing marijuana under two ounces, and driving without a valid license, according to a video posted by MeidasTouch News Group on Facebook.
White has also faced other legal scrutiny in Texas, adding to the broader pattern of arrests.
White's career has also drawn public scrutiny.
White's Public Persona
White's public persona has long been shaped by his connection to the criminal justice system.
His public career has also been marked by provocative commentary.
Naples Show Now in Question
White is scheduled to perform at Off the Hook Comedy Club in Naples on September 16, a 7:00 p.m. special event with tickets sold through Eventbrite and AXS, according to the venue's Eventbrite listing. With White still in custody in Broward County pending a bond decision, the status of that show remains uncertain.
