A man has died after a house fire broke out in Dallas, Oregon, on Friday evening, while two other occupants escaped and firefighters later rescued two dogs. Fire crews were dispatched to a house near Southeast LaCreole Drive and Southeast Hankel Street shortly before 6:30 p.m., where they were told a person was believed to still be inside.
According to KPTV, firefighters searched the house and found a man inside, who later died from injuries sustained in the fire, per Dallas Fire & EMS. The two dogs were rescued from the home, while the two other people inside had already escaped before crews arrived on scene. Firefighters did not say whether a cause of the fire had been determined.
Fire crews were dispatched shortly before 6:30 p.m. to a home near Southeast LaCreole Drive and Southeast Hankel Street for the fatal fire. Dallas Fire & EMS expressed condolences, noting that calls involving fatalities are difficult for firefighters and the local community.
