An elderly man was found floating in the water near Southeast Third Court in Deerfield Beach, prompting a response from the Broward Sheriff's Office and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue after 911 dispatchers received a report of a possible drowning. Fire rescue crews requested additional resources, including a fire boat.
The emergency call came in near Southeast Third Court in Deerfield Beach, according to Deerfield News, which reported the discovery. The outlet reported that BSO and BSFR responded to the reported drowning and that fire rescue requested the extra boat support to assist in the recovery effort. Deerfield News reached out to BSO media relations and Captain Adam Hofstein, chief of the Deerfield Beach BSO district office, as the agency confirmed the case remains an active investigation.
The man's identity was pending, and the cause of death remained pending, according to the same account. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
