A car was wedged underneath the back of a tractor-trailer on northbound I-95 near Indiantown Road Monday morning, sparking a fire in the truck's cab and shutting down lanes in Martin County. Florida Highway Patrol later confirmed the crash was fatal.
The crash happened north of Indiantown Road and disrupted northbound traffic on the interstate, according to a CBS12 crew on scene, as reported by WPEC. The front of the tractor-trailer caught fire, and heavy smoke was visible from the highway as police and fire crews responded to the scene.
One northbound lane reopened around 4:45 a.m., and traffic was moving slowly, the station's report notes. The cause had not been determined, and the outlet says it plans to update the story as additional information becomes available.
A Familiar and Dangerous Stretch of Freeway

In Monday's crash, a passenger car was wedged beneath the rear of a tractor-trailer.
Hoodline previously reported that a motorcycle crash shut down southbound I-95 near mile marker 98 in southern Martin County earlier in September, with the rider flown to a nearby hospital; the air service and destination were not publicly confirmed.
