Fear Factory opened its 2026 season Friday in downtown Salt Lake City, unleashing six buildings, two underground passages and a route that climbs six stories before dropping visitors back to the main floor. The haunted attraction at 666 W 800 S will run on select nights through Nov. 1, giving Wasatch Front thrill-seekers a little over six weeks to make the trek downtown.
The 2026 season, confirmed on the attraction's own site, follows the haunt's 2011 opening, according to fearfactoryslc.com. As Deseret News has reported, Fear Factory has long billed itself as one of the biggest haunted houses in Utah, with six buildings and two underground passageways stretching up to six stories high.
That size is part of what sets the attraction apart. Per the same Deseret News account, customers walk all the way to the top of the tower, across a catwalk, over the ceiling of the entire building, and then back down across the main floor — a route that mixes indoor and outdoor spaces along the way. The haunt leans into that scale by tailoring scares to individual visitors, with the report noting that Fear Factory focuses on giving each person a psychological experience by playing to phobias.
A Free Ride and a Growing Reputation
Getting downtown without worrying about parking is part of the pitch this year, too. Fear Factory's hours page points visitors toward its free Zombie Bus transportation service, along with parking information, for those headed to the 800 South address, according to Fear Factory's website.
The attraction has also built a reputation well beyond Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Fear Factory was ranked among the Haunted Attraction Association's Top Haunts of 2022, and Fear Factory's own site says it has been ranked third in the world and among the top 10 in the United States, a claim that aligns with Deseret News reporting that BuzzFeed ranked it No. 3 in the world and USA Today placed it in the country's top 10.

The haunt has adapted before. During the pandemic, Fox 13 reported that Fear Factory redesigned much of its haunted house and added a safety team to sanitize surfaces every 15 minutes.
Other Utah Haunts Are Raising the Stakes, Too
Nightmare on 13th is another haunt included in this fall's Utah roundup.
Northwest of the city, Haunted Forest in American Fork introduced its own new attraction for 2026, the Psycho Sideshow Oddities of Doc Swan, per hauntedforestutah.com. That attraction sells tickets exclusively online, with no box office at the gate.
