A fiery two-vehicle crash on Nova Drive in Davie killed two people early Thursday morning, and a power outage was reported in Davie, officials said. Fire crews responded to the 6596 block of Nova Drive, where one of the two vehicles involved caught fire, killing both occupants inside, while the other car sustained only minor damage and no injuries were reported.
The collision, first reported by CBS News Miami, prompted authorities to shut down Nova Drive in both directions between College Avenue and Davie Road as crews worked the scene. Under Florida Statutes § 316.066, long-form crash reports completed by law enforcement are exempt from public disclosure for 60 days after an incident, which restricts the release of personal identifying information and explains why victim identities and driver details are not yet public.
The cause of the fire, vehicle speeds, and whether impairment played any role in the crash have not been disclosed. Those questions are likely to remain open until investigators complete their report or release additional details.

Statewide, preliminary 2025 data from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, cited by Swope, Rodante P.A., counted 2,738 fatal collisions causing 2,930 deaths in 2025.
Davie has seen fatal wrecks on its arterial roads before. A high-speed crash on nearby State Road 84 in January 2025 killed one person and injured six others when a vehicle struck a barrier wall and ejected a passenger, according to CBS News. The Town of Davie has also flagged the Nova Drive corridor between University Drive and Pine Island Road for capital improvements in its multi-year transportation surtax proposal, a sign that local officials have already identified the stretch as a priority for infrastructure upgrades.
