Phoenix police officials say the suspect remains outstanding, and it is unclear what led to the shooting or whether the shooter has even been identified.
According to ABC15 Arizona, the girl was reportedly treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being taken to a hospital following the overnight shooting. Police have not said whether they know the identity of the person responsible, and the department says the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Investigation Still Wide Open
As of now, no arrests have been announced and no suspect description has been made public, leaving basic questions — including a motive — unanswered. The station's report does not indicate whether the girl was targeted or caught in crossfire, and the department has not released further details on the circumstances that led to the gunfire.

The shooting site sits less than two miles from Phoenix Children's Hospital Thomas Campus, the primary Level 1 pediatric trauma center serving Central Phoenix. The 24th Street corridor near Thomas Road already carries heavy public safety weight for the neighborhood — Phoenix Police Officer Nick Erfle was fatally shot in the line of duty one block north of Thomas Road on September 18, 2007, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
This is not the corridor's only recent brush with gun violence. Just four days earlier, Hoodline reported that a fight behind a Chevron gas station near 24th and Washington streets, further south along the same corridor, escalated into a shooting that hospitalized a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
A Citywide Decline, But Persistent Local Flashpoints
Phoenix homicides dropped to approximately 151 in 2024, a 32% decline from the city's 2022 peak of 223, per data compiled by Omnilert.
