Phase One of TriHealth's $240 million modernization of Good Samaritan Hospital is substantially complete. The Cincinnati campus now has a five-story, 168,000-square-foot Ambulatory Services Building with a new emergency department and expanded surgical, neurosciences, cancer and blood, heart and vascular, women's, and diagnostic imaging services.
Turner Construction and TriHealth marked the milestone at the hospital campus, according to Turner Construction. The building also expands Good Samaritan's diagnostic imaging capabilities, bringing more imaging services together in one location. Turner Construction Company's Cincinnati office is the project's general contractor, according to Healthcare Design Magazine.
The ambulatory building is a central part of TriHealth's broader investment in Good Samaritan. The campus project is intended to modernize the hospital and improve access and wayfinding as its remaining phases proceed.
A Longstanding Contractor Relationship
Turner says its work at Good Samaritan dates back to the 1980s, and that its relationship with TriHealth and the hospital spans more than 50 years. The company's work over that time has included improvements, renovations, and expansions.
Turner project manager Rob Hudepohl called reaching substantial completion “a tremendous accomplishment for our entire team and trade partners,” according to Turner Construction.
Turner also described the milestone as part of its continuing partnership with TriHealth, highlighting the building's expanded emergency, surgical, neuroscience, cancer, heart and vascular, and women's services for the Cincinnati community.

The Rest Of The Campus Plan
The ambulatory building is one phase of a larger campus modernization that broke ground in 2022 and is scheduled for completion in late 2028, according to Construction Digital. TriHealth has described its goal as creating “a medical campus of the future,” the outlet reported.
Beyond the new ambulatory building, the master plan includes access and wayfinding improvements designed to better integrate the new structure within the hospital campus, the Healthcare Design Magazine report notes. Construction Digital also lists renovations to existing buildings and a new staff parking garage among the planned enhancements still to come.
The wider plan also calls for stroke and high-risk maternity centers, plus additional outpatient and surgical services. Construction Digital reports that outpatient services planned for the modernized campus include infusion, medical oncology, cellular therapy, cardiac testing, imaging, and pulmonary rehabilitation.
Another TriHealth Expansion In The Cincinnati Area
Good Samaritan's $240 million Cincinnati campus modernization is distinct from an earlier TriHealth project at Western Ridge. WCPO reported that a $56.6 million, two-story addition at the Western Ridge campus in Green Township was expected to open in the winter of 2020—different in location, scale, and timing from the current Good Samaritan project.
What Comes Next For The Cincinnati Community
With Phase One substantially complete, the remaining campus work is scheduled to continue through late 2028. The project will add to Good Samaritan's facilities and services as TriHealth carries out the rest of its modernization plan.
