Homestyle Hawaiian plans to relocate from 10601 Tierrasanta Blvd. to 10425 Tierrasanta Blvd., Suite 107, a nearby unit in the Tierra Del Sol Shopping Center. The restaurant’s website lists the current address, while a LoopNet listing identifies 10405-10425 Tierrasanta Blvd. as the Tierra Del Sol Shopping Center.
Plans for the new location
The move follows the expiration of Homestyle Hawaiian’s 10-year lease at its current location, according to WhatNow San Diego. Co-owner Anselmo Tolentino told the outlet that the restaurant is targeting an opening around mid-October, though health department permits could affect the schedule.
The prospective space previously housed Chile Peppers, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant. Tolentino told WhatNow that its layout can be adapted for Homestyle Hawaiian, with a larger kitchen and a somewhat smaller dining room. The planned interior will use a Hawaiian surf theme and include several surfboards.
Homestyle Hawaiian also plans to broaden its menu at the new location, according to WhatNow. The restaurant expects to continue serving Hawaiian plates and all-day breakfast while adding ceviche and more fish. Tolentino said the Tierrasanta relocation is the team’s current focus and that no additional opening is planned at this time.
Tierra Del Sol’s role in Tierrasanta
The relocation would keep Homestyle Hawaiian within a larger neighborhood shopping-center complex. According to the City of San Diego’s Tierrasanta Community Plan, the complex on Tierrasanta Boulevard covers approximately 26 acres and contains more than 70 businesses across seven developments, including Tierra Del Sol. The plan calls for commercial areas to meet community needs and use high design standards, with new or remodeled centers designed to be compatible with surrounding development.
The restaurant’s existing footprint
Homestyle Hawaiian lists San Diego locations, including its Tierrasanta restaurant, on its website. The restaurant’s deep-fried Spam Musubi was featured on Cooking Channel’s Junk Food Flip; Rotten Tomatoes lists the episode as “Deep Fried Spam Musubi Flip.”
