Comedian Jim Gaffigan is turning a Metro Detroit stop into a two-part event, pairing a pair of stand-up shows at Detroit's Fox Theatre with a bottle-signing meet-and-greet at a Novi Total Wine store. The eight-time Grammy nominee brings his Everything Is Wonderful tour to the Fox Theatre this Friday at 7 p.m. and again Saturday at 8 p.m., before heading to suburban Novi for a fan meet-and-greet tied to his bourbon brand.
As reported by MLive, Gaffigan will appear at the Total Wine location at 21071 Haggerty Road in Novi this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Fans who purchase a bottle of Fathertime Bourbon, the spirits brand Gaffigan co-founded, will receive his autograph on the bottle along with a photo with the comedian. Tickets for both Friday's and Saturday's Fox Theatre shows remain available for purchase, per the same report.
Gaffigan has described Fathertime Bourbon as a passion project he has worked on for a couple of years, according to MLive. The brand launched in April 2024 as an independent venture, co-founded with Georgetown University classmate and Louisville filmmaker Stu Pollard, without any corporate or investor backing, according to 800 Pound Gorilla. Gaffigan self-funded the brand after sampling hundreds of barrels alongside Pollard, the outlet reports.
A Bourbon Habit Born During Pandemic Homeschooling
Gaffigan has publicly traced his shift from casual drinking to bourbon connoisseur back to COVID-19 lockdowns, when he was homeschooling his five children in New York City, according to LibDib. That personal history has fed directly into both his stand-up material and his product branding, per the outlet.
The Fathertime Bourbon lineup leans into that parenting theme, with limited-batch releases such as Firstborn Edition, Second Child Syndrome, and The Caboose retailing between $149.99 and $199.99 per bottle, according to Seelbach's. Each bottle label is personally signed by Gaffigan during production, the retailer notes. Earlier this year, the brand also announced an ultra-limited 20-year-old Tennessee straight bourbon whiskey priced at $299.99, marking the 20th anniversary of Gaffigan's 2006 Comedy Central special Beyond the Pale; Fathertime Bourbon says the release was limited to an estimated 180 bottles distilled in June 2005.
