A Philly cheesesteak shop is moving into a Jupiter café's kitchen after hours, and it plans to open its doors — or rather, its pickup window — on Nov. 12. Papa T's Cheesesteaks & Tenders will operate out of the existing Berry Fresh Café at 3755 Military Trail, cooking once the breakfast-and-lunch spot shuts down for the day.

The concept comes from Mitchell Timoteo, who is also the owner and operator of the Berry Fresh Café restaurants, according to the Bradenton Herald. Berry Fresh Café has been running for 16 years as a breakfast, lunch and brunch concept that closes before dinner, and Timoteo is using those idle evening hours to launch Papa T's without opening a separate storefront. Per the same account, the Jupiter shop will be the third Papa T's location, following an opening in Stuart in July and a second restaurant in Port St. Lucie about two weeks before the Herald's report published.

How the Kitchen-Sharing Model Works

Papa T's has no dining room of its own. As the company puts it on its website, “There is no dining room: we cook out of a kitchen, not a restaurant,” according to Papa T's Restaurant. The business describes its approach directly: “We cook out of their kitchens after they close for the day.”

Timoteo told the Bradenton Herald the setup lets the group grow sales without the cost of building new restaurants from scratch, and framed the strategy in modest terms. The Herald reports the goal is to eventually operate a Papa T's out of all five Berry Fresh Café locations, expanding the brand one existing kitchen at a time rather than through new construction.

What's on the Menu

The cheesesteaks are made with 100% USDA Choice ribeye, according to the Herald's report, and can be topped with provolone, Cooper Sharp American or old school whiz. Timoteo told the outlet the restaurant serves a high-quality Philly cheesesteak cooked in beef tallow with shaved ribeye. The menu includes a classic cheesesteak with Cooper Sharp American, a garlic parm version with fresh shaved parmesan, and a Veggie Philly loaded with mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, spinach, provolone, garlic aioli and balsamic glaze.

Beyond cheesesteaks, Papa T's offers antibiotic- and hormone-free chicken tenders, loaded fries and several salads, the Herald notes, giving the concept some menu crossover with Berry Fresh Café's own fresh chicken tenders. To keep food warm in transit, the shop double-wraps its sandwiches in what it calls a “Philadelphia microwave” — a method Timoteo said keeps a cheesesteak hot for 20 to 30 minutes after it leaves the kitchen.

Delivery Radius and Hours

Papa T's offers takeout and delivery only, and has limited its delivery range to a three-mile radius around each restaurant, per the Herald. That keeps orders arriving while they're still hot, in keeping with the double-wrap method. Hours are listed differently across sources: Papa T's own website states it is open Thursday to Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. ET, while the Bradenton Herald reports hours of 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday to Sunday for delivery and takeout only.

A Name Rooted in Family History

Papa T's is named after Timoteo's father, Tim Tomateo, who died about five years before the Herald's report. Timoteo moved from Philadelphia to South Florida in the 1980s, and the family has a long history in the restaurant business — they founded the RJ Gators chain, which grew to 30 restaurants over a 20-year period before going bankrupt in 2007, according to the Herald. The company describes itself as a family operation rather than a franchise, stating on its site, “We're not a franchise. We're family.”

Timoteo told the Herald the group intends to grow slowly and focus on quality rather than size, a philosophy that appears to be shaping Papa T's rollout so far. As reported by the Palm Beach Post, the Jupiter location is slated to open Nov. 12, giving Palm Beach County its first taste of the concept while the Berry Fresh Café kitchen at 3755 Military Trail keeps cooking long after its usual closing time.
