Registration is open for the 11th Annual Dixie Roofing Clays for Children Sporting Clays Tournament, a two-day sporting clays competition set for Oct. 1-2 at Iron Mountain Sporting Clays in Kodak. The event benefits Children's Centers serving Campbell, Claiborne, Fentress, Scott and Union counties, which provide medical exams, forensic interviews, counseling and court support for abused and neglected children across the five-county region.
The tournament has become a signature fundraiser for the Eighth Judicial District, organized as a benefit for local child advocacy centers, according to The Mountain Press. A Facebook post shared by Jared Effler 8th District Attorney General references the event, while organizers also plan auctions alongside the competition itself.
This year's shoot is a 100-shot competition with shooters grouped into teams of four, and the entry fee runs $150 per shooter, per event details listed by childrenscenterofthecumberlands.org. One golf cart is provided per four-person team, with extra carts available for $25 each. The tournament runs from 8 a.m. on Oct. 1 through 5 p.m. on Oct. 2 at the Kodak range, located at 410 Hardin Road — not far from the Bass Pro Shop that anchors the area.

Beyond the shooting itself, organizers plan both individual and team awards, along with a silent auction running both days and a live auction held during lunch on Friday, the same source notes. Those elements, paired with the live music and food that have become tournament staples, have helped turn Clays for Children into what The Mountain Press has described as one of the largest benefit sporting clays tournaments in the country.

Last year's 10th annual tournament was held Oct. 2-3, 2025 at the same Kodak venue and again netted $115,000 for the Children's Centers of the Eighth Judicial District, according to 1450wlaf.com. Ahead of that milestone tenth year, Effler said he anticipated it being the organization's largest and most successful tournament yet.
With registration now open for the 11th installment, the tournament is set for the Kodak range this fall. The 2026 tournament's fundraising outcome remains to be seen for the Children's Centers the event supports.
