Lake Charles police arrested Reginald Andre Wilson, 30, after authorities accused him of giving a client a water bottle containing bleach. Wilson was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center on counts of aggravated battery, cruelty to persons with infirmities and mingling harmful substances, according to WBRZ.
The client, Marshal Huntsberry, is 48 and has physical and mental disabilities, according to 99.9 KTDY. The report said Huntsberry noticed an unusual taste after drinking from the bottle and contacted relatives. A relative confronted Wilson, who police said acknowledged putting bleach in the water.
Agency response
Heaven On Earth Network Inc., the home-care provider associated with Wilson, said it removed him from the home and took Huntsberry to an emergency room for evaluation. The agency said it was cooperating with police and state authorities and does not tolerate abuse of clients, according to KPLC.
What police say happened
Security footage provided by Huntsberry's family appears to show Wilson adding a substance from a large container to the water bottle before giving it to Huntsberry, WDRB reported. Detectives said Huntsberry noticed a bleach-like taste and that his family then notified police, according to WDRB.
Reporting suspected abuse
According to the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs, suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation involving adults ages 18 to 59 can be reported to Louisiana Adult Protective Services at 1-800-898-4910.
