Afternoon skies should stay mostly sunny, though some high clouds may drift through. The National Weather Service’s Chicago forecast calls for south-southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph and a high near 82 degrees, making Tuesday the better outdoor day of the next few days.
Showers Arrive Before Wednesday Morning
Clouds will thicken Tuesday night, with a slight chance of rain showers after 4 a.m. Wednesday and a low around 73 degrees. Rain chances rise sharply Wednesday, when showers and thunderstorms are expected mainly from the morning into early afternoon.
Wednesday’s high could reach 83 degrees before temperatures fall toward the upper 70s later in the day. The National Weather Service says storms may bring gusts up to 20 mph, while rainfall totals of roughly a tenth to a quarter-inch are possible.
Cooler Thursday, Warm Weekend Ahead
Behind Wednesday’s system, Thursday should bring a brief cooldown with mostly sunny skies and a high near 76 degrees. The warmup returns Friday and Saturday, with highs near 79 and 83 degrees, though rain chances return Saturday and continue intermittently into Sunday and Monday.
