Saturday’s forecast calls for south winds around 8 to 13 mph, while stronger gusts remain possible across the region. The National Weather Service says many parts of Utah could see gusts of 30 to 40 mph, with isolated higher gusts, especially west of Interstate 15.
The air will also be very dry, with afternoon humidity expected to fall to about 15% or lower in western Utah. There are no watches, warnings, or advisories posted for the Salt Lake City area, but outdoor plans should account for wind, heat, and elevated fire danger.
Sunday Brings Showers And Thunderstorms
Sunday marks the weekend’s weather pivot, with partly sunny skies, a high near 84 and a 30% chance of rain showers after noon followed by thunderstorms. Sunday night brings a 50% chance of showers and storms, a low around 62 and gusts that could reach 31 mph.
The weather change is a more defined update to Hoodline’s earlier forecast, which pointed to the weekend transition but had fewer details on the storm timing. Forecasters say tropical moisture will spread north into Utah, bringing the potential for strong thunderstorms, brief heavy rain and a slight flash-flood risk in parts of the state.

Labor Day starts with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon, then a smaller storm chance during the afternoon, with a high near 75. Monday night should turn mostly clear and fall to around 55.
Sunny, calmer weather returns Tuesday with a high near 80, followed by mostly sunny skies and highs near 84 Wednesday and Thursday. For the most reliable outdoor plans, Saturday looks like the winner; Sunday and Monday deserve a backup plan in case the storms arrive on schedule.
