Luna Grill will flip on the flame grills at its fourth Arizona restaurant Wednesday morning, opening a North Phoenix location at 3025 W. Dove Valley Road, Suite 300, at 10:30 a.m. The fast-casual Mediterranean chain has now opened four Valley locations in under a year, a pace that puts it squarely in the middle of one of the region's hottest commercial corridors.
The San Diego-based chain, founded by Sean and Maria Pourteymour in 2004, has expanded quickly since entering Arizona in November 2025, according to WhatNow. Luna Grill already operates restaurants in Mesa, Gilbert and Avondale, and the North Phoenix opening marks its fourth Arizona location since that debut. CEO Rich Pinnella called the milestone significant, saying opening a fourth Arizona location in less than a year is a major achievement for the brand, per WhatNow's reporting.
“Arizona continues to grow, and Luna Grill is excited to grow alongside the communities it serves,” Pinnella said, according to the outlet. The company says it aims to make healthy, convenient dining part of an active lifestyle and to create a welcoming spot for families, friends and neighbors.
What's On the Menu
The North Phoenix restaurant will serve Luna Grill's signature lineup of flame-grilled kabobs, bowls, wraps, salads, fresh pitas and family meals. Proteins are marinated for 24 hours and cooked to order, while gyro is prepared fresh and sauces are made from scratch daily, per the WhatNow report. CEO Pinnella has described the chain's cooking process in more detail elsewhere, telling AZ Big Media that all proteins are cooked to order over an 800-degree open flame following the 24-hour marination using proprietary family recipes.
The new location will offer dine-in, takeout, digital ordering and catering, and guests can join the Club Luna loyalty program for rewards, exclusive offers and digital ordering perks. On opening day, the first 50 guests in line will receive a free Santorini bowl. The restaurant also features a custom mural inspired by the North Phoenix community, created by Arizona artist Lizzy Nilsen. A Rapid Rollout Across the Valley
Luna Grill's Arizona expansion has moved briskly since its Mesa debut on November 11, 2025, followed by Gilbert on April 16, 2026, and Avondale on August 20, 2026, according to KTAR News. The chain now counts 63 locations nationwide, and CEO Pinnella told AZ Big Media he expects a fifth Arizona restaurant to open in Tempe near Rural and Warner by the end of the year, with the metro Phoenix area potentially able to support more than 10 locations long term.
The growth follows a leadership change at the top: Pinnella, a former Taco Bell executive who joined Luna Grill in 2019 as chief brand officer, was promoted to CEO in August 2025, succeeding co-founder Sean Pourteymour, who moved into the role of executive chairman after 20 years leading the company, according to Nation's Restaurant News. That restructuring period also saw the chain grow its delivery business by more than 150 percent while improving its mobile app ordering, per Luna Grill's own account. Ahead of the state-by-state push, the company had also logged five consecutive years of same-store sales growth and 11 straight quarters of same-store transaction growth, according to YourValley.net. During its Gilbert and Avondale openings, Luna Grill also partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley on grand-opening fundraisers supporting youth nutrition education and career exploration, the same outlet reported.
Landing in a Booming Tech Corridor
The North Phoenix pick is no accident. The Dove Valley Road corridor has become a magnet for national retail and restaurant chains thanks to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's expanding campus, which has drawn tens of billions of dollars in semiconductor infrastructure and thousands of technical workers to the area, according to Bisnow. The new Luna Grill sits adjacent to Halo Vista, a $7 billion, 2,300-acre master-planned mixed-use district that broke ground in March, which is slated to include 500,000 square feet of retail and a Costco warehouse, according to the Arizona Commerce Authority. Hoodline has tracked the district's rise in earlier coverage of the area becoming a $7 billion mini city and of a mega mall planned nearby. For Luna Grill, the timing lines up neatly with its westward march into Arizona, which most recently included its 62nd nationwide location at 9750 W. Indian School Road in Avondale, marking the brand's first restaurant west of Phoenix proper.
