Memphis is headed for a high near 97 Monday, but the brief taste of fall is not arriving yet. A few showers or thunderstorms could develop Monday afternoon and evening, but most of the day should stay dry.
One More Hot Afternoon
The hottest stretch arrives from early afternoon into early evening, when temperatures are expected to hover in the mid-90s and the chance of rain rises to about 20%. Northwest winds will stay light at 0 to 5 mph, offering little relief from the heat. The National Weather Service in Memphis expects any storms to be isolated rather than a citywide soaking rain.
Relief Arrives Tuesday
A weak front will finally push the heat lower Tuesday, bringing temperatures in the 80s to lower 90s. Tuesday night should drop to around 66, followed by a notably more comfortable Wednesday with a high near 85 and a low around 63. The forecast stays mostly dry through Saturday before temperatures should remain near normal through the weekend.
That cooldown is a meaningful change from Hoodline's earlier heat forecast, which called for triple-digit temperatures to linger through Saturday. Tonight, Memphis can expect a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm before 9 p.m., followed by mostly clear skies and a low around 72.
