Memphis is heading into a dangerous Saturday with bright skies and a high near 100 degrees. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m., while the heat makes strenuous outdoor plans especially taxing.
Saturday Heat Peaks in Afternoon
The National Weather Service forecast calls for sunny skies and light west winds, but little relief from the heat. The agency’s Memphis forecast office says temperatures will run from the upper 90s into the lower 100s across the region.
Saturday’s heat will be most intense during the afternoon.
Sunday Stays Hot Before A Storm Chance
Sunday will bring another hot day, with temperatures in the upper 90s. A weak front on Monday will bring a chance of rain.
Widespread rain is not expected from that front, so it is unlikely to erase the region’s dry, parched feel. The better news is that temperatures begin to ease afterward, with cooler conditions expected by Wednesday.
Cooling Arrives Midweek
Overnight lows should remain uncomfortable through Sunday, ranging from the mid-70s to the upper 70s. Cooling is expected by Wednesday.
The forecast marks a meaningful step down from the weekend furnace. Memphis residents should continue using air conditioning, drinking plenty of fluids and checking on older neighbors, children and pets during the hottest part of the day.
