A major crash tangled up traffic in northwest Miami-Dade on Friday, with multiple people reportedly injured after several vehicles, including two pickup trucks, collided at a busy intersection. Aerial footage captured the aftermath, showing a chaotic scene stretched across the roadway as emergency crews moved in.
The crash happened at Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 87th Avenue, according to NBC 6 South Florida. Chopper 6 footage showed at least half a dozen vehicles involved, a striking visual of just how widespread the wreck became at the intersection.
Fire Rescue Crews Free Trapped Person
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews found a person trapped in a car, and the Technical Rescue Team freed that person, per the same report. That detail alone points to the severity of the impact between the vehicles.
The station reported six patients total: four were treated and released at the scene, one was airlifted to a hospital, and one was taken by ground. The identities of those involved had not been released.
Not the First Trouble Spot for This Corner of Doral
This isn't the first time this general stretch of northwest Miami-Dade has made headlines for a serious crash. In 2023, a police investigation into a car crash at a Doral intersection led to the arrest of Anthony Saavedra, according to WSVN. That case is separate from Friday's crash and involved its own distinct circumstances.
An earlier 2022 incident near the same area also drew scrutiny, when WSVN reported that a woman was struck and left on the road while her husband was dragged roughly a quarter mile. In that case, 30-year-old Danlesha Hall appeared before a judge and was charged with two counts of aggravated battery, according to WSVN's coverage. Those earlier cases remain unrelated to Friday's multi-vehicle wreck and shouldn't be read as any indication of what caused this latest crash.
For now, the cause of Friday's collision, along with any potential citations or arrests, has not been disclosed. Miami-Dade drivers passing through the NW 36th Street and NW 87th Avenue corridor should expect the investigation to continue as authorities sort through what led to the pileup.
