Nashville is waking up to clear skies and temperatures near 75 degrees Wednesday, but the calm start will give way to another punishing afternoon. The high is expected to reach 97 degrees, with the heat index climbing as high as 108.
The Heat Advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville. Forecasters are urging residents to drink plenty of fluids, limit time in the afternoon sun and check on older adults, neighbors and anyone without reliable air conditioning.
Dangerous Heat Sticks Around
The hot weather will continue through the weekend, with highs in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees and heat indexes of 101 to 106.
Rain Chances Finally Increase Next Week
Rain chances are part of the outlook. Tuesday’s high is forecast at 98 degrees.

Metro Nashville lists cooling, hydration and outreach resources for people facing the heat, including expanded services during extreme heat advisories.
