Nashville is starting Tuesday with clear skies, light winds and temperatures around 54 degrees, but the cool morning will not last long. Patchy fog may linger before 8 a.m. before sunshine takes over and temperatures climb to about 88 degrees.
That pleasant start is the front end of a sharp warmup. The National Weather Service expects a high near 91 on Wednesday, with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s by Friday, mostly sunny skies and no rain in the forecast through Thursday.
Heat Builds Before Rain Returns
Friday stays hot, with a high near 90 and low-to-medium rain chances beginning Friday afternoon. The shift marks a wetter turn after an earlier Hoodline forecast covering conditions through September 27.
Rain chances rise sharply Saturday and Sunday, when showers are likely and thunderstorms could join the mix. Saturday should reach about 81 degrees, followed by a sunny Sunday near 80; widespread rain chances are 60% to 70% from Saturday afternoon or evening through Sunday morning.
Soaking Rain Possible This Weekend
The Nashville-area forecast discussion points to a meaningful chance of more than an inch of rain from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning, with the heaviest rainfall possible during that window. The ground is unusually dry and may absorb a good deal of the water, but officials will still monitor low-lying areas for flooding.
Showery weather could linger into Monday before skies turn mostly sunny and temperatures settle into the mid-70s.
