A man believed to be in his 40s was reported missing Friday night after falling from a jet boat into Percy Priest Lake near Anderson Road, officials said. He was not seen resurfacing, prompting Nashville emergency crews to respond to a possible drowning.
The 911 call was received at about 8:30 p.m. near Anderson Road, according to WSMV. The Nashville Fire Department was sent to Percy Priest Lake after receiving a report that someone had gone underwater and had not resurfaced, the outlet reported.
Wildlife Agency Now Investigating
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is handling the investigation, according to the report. As of Friday, officials had not publicly identified the man or provided further details about what led to the fall or the status of the search.
The incident is separate from an August 19, 2026, search near Anderson Beach Recreation Area that was documented on a WSMV video page titled “Search continues for man in Percy Priest Lake.” WSMV reported that, in that case, a man went underwater while trying to swim back to a drifting pontoon boat; the man's body was found on August 19. No evidence has been provided linking the two incidents.
Boating safety and lake-response context
The incident comes amid a year in which Tennessee was on track for 22 fatal boating accidents, a figure TWRA spokesperson Matt Cameron described as the average, according to Spectrum News. Officials have not released information about the man's equipment or the circumstances of the fall.
