New Orleans is waking up to clear skies Friday, with a sunny afternoon headed toward 90. Rain is not part of the plan today, giving the city a clean break from the wetter weather earlier this week.
Sunny Skies Carry Into A Hot Weekend
According to the National Weather Service, Friday's aviation outlook calls for light easterly winds. The outlook also noted mostly clear conditions and a low near 76 degrees for Thursday night. Saturday looks even hotter, with sunshine and a high near 92.
Sunday should bring another sunny 92-degree afternoon, although the rain chance remains low but nonzero. Heat and lingering humidity will still make water, shade and sunscreen useful accessories rather than optional ones.
Small Storm Chance Returns Monday
Monday brings a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., with a 30% to 40% chance of storms. Monday's setup includes storm chances early next week, as described in Hoodline's earlier forecast.
After Monday, Tuesday is forecast to bring generally low rain chances and temperatures in the low to mid-90s, followed by another night in the 70s. Wednesday should remain in the low to mid-90s, while Thursday remains in the low to mid-90s.
Heat Builds Again Next Week
The weather service says afternoon heat-index values should generally stay at or below 100 through Saturday, then rise into the 100-to-105 range during the middle and latter part of next week. No watches, warnings or advisories are listed for the New Orleans area in the current forecast, but afternoon heat will remain the main thing to plan around.
