According to AZ Family, police say the driver was making a right turn onto Cave Creek Road when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was in the crosswalk at the time. In the August case, Phoenix police responded to the crash near 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue at around 7:30 p.m., and witnesses said a male driver traveling southbound in the curb lane struck the teen as he walked in the crosswalk, per the same outlet. A Phoenix Police Department Vehicular Crimes Unit drug recognition expert found no signs of impairment in that driver, who was cited and released for traffic violations. The identities of both the driver and the victim in that earlier crash were never released.
