A pickup truck plowed into Viva Supermercado at 2135 N. Post Road on Indianapolis's east side around 9 p.m. Tuesday, tearing a hole through the grocery store's wall. By the time firefighters reached the scene, the driver was gone.
Members of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and Indianapolis Fire Department responded to the address around 9 p.m., according to Fox 59. When crews arrived, they located the pickup truck that appeared to have been driven directly into the store, per the outlet.
Officials said the truck first ran through a nearby Home Depot's fence before it struck Viva Supermercado, leaving the hole in the store's wall. The station's report notes that the pickup truck's driver was not in the vehicle or anywhere at the scene when firefighters showed up.
No Injuries Reported So Far
As of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, no injuries related to the crash had been reported, the fire department said, per the same account. Viva Supermercado, the Indianapolis grocery store damaged in the crash, sits at 2135 N. Post Rd in the city's 46219 zip code, according to Mapquest.
Beyond those details, little else about the incident has been confirmed. It remains unclear where the driver went after leaving the vehicle, and no information has been released about what led the truck to run through the Home Depot fence before striking the grocery store.
