Pinecrest Bakery is preparing to open a new location at 9929 S. Military Trail in Boynton Beach, converting a former Boston Market storefront into its latest Cuban-American bakery and cafe. The planned store will combine bakery items, Cuban-American food, and coffee, with both dine-in and grab-and-go service for customers craving pastelitos, croquetas, and cafecito.
According to WhatNow, the roughly 3,000-square-foot location is expected to include approximately 20 to 30 indoor seats. The Boynton Beach spot is one of several new stores in development, with Pinecrest Bakery's website also listing upcoming locations in Miami Springs, Miami Lakes, and Miami. Menu staples across the chain include café con leche, a wide selection of Cuban sandwiches, and trays of pastries, cakes, and other baked goods.
The move continues Pinecrest Bakery's push farther north in Palm Beach County, following the opening of a location on Jog Road in Greenacres, alongside an existing storefront on North Military Trail in West Palm Beach, according to Pinecrest Bakery. Hoodline previously reported on the chain's 25th South Florida spot opening in Lauderhill in March, part of a steady march northward from its Miami-Dade roots.
From a Miami-Dade Storefront to a Regional Brand
Pinecrest Bakery traces its roots to a 2012 storefront, while Efrain Valdes and Joel Rodriguez opened the brand in 2013 after the Pastelmania concept began in 2010, per Burger Beast. The company took its name from the Village of Pinecrest, where its original shop opened. Today, the chain operates a network of approximately 35 corporate and franchised locations stretching from Key Largo up to Palm Beach County, with many storefronts running around the clock, seven days a week.
In a November 2025 interview, owner Efrain Valdes Jr. told Business Debut, “targeting an opening between the second and third quarters of 2026” for the Boynton Beach store. Current public information does not establish a final opening date for the new location, and previous reports have described the Boynton Beach restaurant as planned for 24-hour service.
Pastries Drive the Bulk of Sales
Roughly 75% of Pinecrest Bakery's total sales come from traditional Cuban pastries such as guava, cheese, and coconut pastelitos, alongside a food menu that includes more than 27 sandwich varieties, the same outlet reports. Guava pastelitos and croquetas are popular items, supported by an average of 65,000 customers served per week across its South Florida network. That volume runs through a centralized regional commissary that prepares and delivers baked goods to each store, keeping the taste consistent whether a customer is in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County.
A Familiar Retail Corner Changes Hands
The Boynton Beach site is designated as Space 22 within Boynton West Shopping Center. The storefront became available after landlord eviction proceedings were filed against previous occupant Boston Market in late 2023, amid the fast-casual chain's nationwide financial downfall, according to Negocios Magazine.
By repurposing a former Boston Market site, Pinecrest Bakery is leveraging an existing space in a shopping center. Boynton Beach's demographics help explain the bet: according to 2024 U.S. Census Bureau estimates, approximately 16.8% of the city's roughly 83,000 residents identify as Hispanic or Latino, part of sustained growth in Palm Beach County's Hispanic population over recent decades.
Community Programs Beyond the Counter
Beyond selling pastelitos and cafecito, Pinecrest Bakery runs local community outreach programs such as Coffee with a Cop and supports Bounce Back from Cancer, a charitable cause championed by Valdes, who is a cancer survivor. Pinecrest Bakery also supports community-oriented programs as the Boynton Beach location moves toward its debut.
