Prohibition Brewing Co. is closing its doors in Vista at the end of September, ending a 15-year run for the northern Vista brewpub as a $2.75 million property sale involving owner Kyle Adams moves forward. The family is closing the brewery as Adams' parents, Ron and Kathy Adams, prepare to retire. The sale includes the brewery, restaurant, name, equipment and related assets, and the closure is described as permanent.
The brewery opened at 2004 East Vista Way, in Vista, a city associated with the Hops Highway and a concentrated brewery district, according to SanDiegoVille. That positioning gave Prohibition Brewing its own neighborhood following distinct from the denser brewery row closer to downtown Vista. Commercial listings show the 6,687-square-foot complex spans three buildings on 1.03 acres. The property also includes restaurant and taproom space.

The Brewers Association reported that U.S. craft beer production volume fell 4% during all of 2025, reflecting a persistent nationwide contraction in the craft brewing sector. Nationwide, closures outpaced new openings in 2025, with 481 breweries closing compared to just 300 openings, shrinking the total number of operating U.S. craft breweries by 2.9% to 9,578, per the Brewers Association.
San Diego County's craft beer sector has felt that squeeze at every level, not just among small neighborhood brewpubs. Stone Brewing's former parent company announced plans in August to lay off 220 workers and close three Escondido production facilities, according to Kidder Mathews.
