Fany M. Rosa was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on September 18 after an August 23 crash on Southern Boulevard near Jog Road killed Corey Watson of Lantana. WPBF reported that Rosa faces charges including vehicular homicide, DUI causing death and DUI causing property damage: WPBF.
Her bond was set at $52,000, and she was ordered not to consume alcohol as a condition of release, according to WPBF. Her next court date is scheduled for November 18 at 10:30 a.m.: WPBF.
Crash investigation
The collision occurred at about 6:06 a.m. near the top of the Southern Boulevard overpass at Jog Road. Investigators said Rosa was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided with a 2019 Honda Insight traveling westbound. Both drivers suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, according to an account citing the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office: BocaNewsNow.com.
Watson, 36, was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center and died on August 29 from injuries sustained in the crash, according to his obituary: Boynton Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
Alcohol allegation
WPBF reported that a toxicology test found Rosa's blood alcohol concentration was .201, compared with Florida's .08% legal limit for drivers age 21 and older. The station also reported that, in a sworn statement, Rosa said she had been drinking before driving after a nightclub closed at 5 a.m. Those are investigative allegations reported by the station and are not established findings at trial: WPBF.
